MEMBERS of the public and councillors are to have a chance to put budget questions directly to the Leader of Swansea Council.

A special meeting of the council’s Service Improvement & Finance Scrutiny Performance Panel will be taking place on Tuesday 7 February at 10am in the Council Chamber, Civic Centre. The purpose will be to discuss the Council’s Budget proposals for 2017/18.

Cllr Rob Stewart (Leader), the council’s Director of Resources and the Chief Finance Officer will field questions from the public and councillors about the budget proposals.

It’s all part of the countdown to a full Council meeting on 23 February at which the budget for next year will be set.

The Convener of the Panel, Councillor Chris Holley, will present the Panel’s findings and observations at the Cabinet Meeting on 9 February so that they can be taken into account during Cabinet’s discussion of the budget.

The meeting is open to the public. If people wish to attend in order to ask a question they should contact Scrutiny Team on 636292. Questions can also be submitted via email scrutiny@swansea.gov.uk , or here on the scrutiny blog page.

20 minutes will be set aside at the meeting for public questions. No notice has to be given of a public question but any submitted in advance will receive priority within the allocated time.
