The Public Engagement Panel is to start an inquiry into how the Council can improve its engagement practices with the public, staff and partners.
This is a significant and strategic issue which was identified in the Single Integrated Plan which prioritises working together to make Swansea a better place and to improve community well being in a way that is democratic, involves everyone and does not compromise the needs of future generations. Public engagement and how the Council can be better at it was also identified as being important through consultation with councillors, including scrutiny councillors, the public and staff.
To help understand these issues and to answer some of these questions the panel is inviting written submissions on the following lines of inquiry:
- How is the Council meeting the objectives set out in is own consultation and involvement strategy?
- How well is Swansea Voices used to engage the public in Council decision making?
- What consultation, involvement and engagement good practice exists within and outside the Council?
- How does the Council promote engagement in the Local Service Board?
- How will the budget reductions impact on the Council’s ability to consult, involve and engage its stakeholders?
