The Health Social Care & Well Being Overview & Scrutiny Board met last week to discuss the Cabinet report on the business case for a local authority trading company to deliver adult social care.
The Board has engaged with a range of stakeholders over the last 3 months to gather evidence to help them form an opinion on the development of an Local Authority Trading Company. The board took evidence from the Corporate Director, internal procurement and contract officers, contracted external care home providers, contracted domiciliary care providers, supported living providers and officers and councillors from Bridgend County Borough Council. The Board also considered a variety of written reports from different sources, all of which helped the Board to form an opinion about the development of a Local Authority Trading Company.
The Board discussed the report and broadly agreed with the Director’s assessment. The Board also felt it was important to present its opinion, based on the evidence it had gathered, to the Cabinet Member. You can read the Board’s views and opinions in the Chair’s letter for the October board meeting which has been sent to the Cabinet Member.
The Board has requested that the Cabinet Member keep the Board up to date with any future developments in this area.
