The Performance & Finance Overview & Scrutiny Board met this week to discuss the results for the first quarter performance and financial monitoring. Councillors asked for further information on:
- The Council Contact Centre
- Fly tipping
- Damage to roads and pavements
- The central library
- Council house empty properties
The Board also received the treasury management annual report for 2010/2011. Treasury management is defined as ‘the management of the organisation’s cash flows, its banking, money market and capital market transactions; the effective control of the risks associated with those activities; and the pursuit of optimum performance consistent with those risks’. That seems a bit of a mouthful but basically it’s about looking after the Council’s money. In the current financial climate the Council has taken a cautious borrowing and investment strategy, with security of the investment being of paramount concern.
